****************************************** ** A quick user's guide to Word Power 3 ** ****************************************** Hello fellow pirates. Well, this is being typed with Word Power 3 and appears to be very nice. The key toggles between insert mode and type over mode. The key acts as a Delete key. The keys are as follows: CTRL-A Yanks text from the cursor to the beginning of the line. CTRL-B pops up the Block window. You can Block move, copy, delete, and unmark blocks. See below for instructions. CTRL-C is invalid. CTRL-D Yanks the word immediately to the left of the cursor. CTRL-E Produces a tilde (~). CTRL-F Deletes from the cursor to the end of the line. CTRL-G produces a backslash followed by an Uppercase G. Possibly for printer codes? CTRL-H produces a backslash followed by an uppercase H. CTRL-I brings up the printer font window. See below for instructions. CTRL-J moves you to the first letter of the last word typed. CTRL-K Moves cursor to next character that is not a space. CTRL-L brings up the search and replace window. CTRL-M Are delimiters for printer fonts. See below. CTRL-N Moves you to the bottom left of the window. CTRL-O produces a flashing "normal" in the upper-left. I have no idea what this is for. CTRL-P brings up what I think is a justification window. CTRL-Q produces a backslash followed by an uppercase Q. CTRL-R Same thing as CTRL-Q. CTRL-S deletes the word immediately to the left or the cursor. CTRL-T brings up the Tab set window. CTRL-U puts you at the top of the page. CTRL-V moves the window to columns 5-12. CTRL-W produces the broken-line. (|) CTRL-X brings up the Clear Memory window. CTRL-Y deletes entire line, but keeps cursor in the same position. CTRL-Z links to something external. CTRL-Up arrow moves the window to the top of the document. CTRL-Dn arrow moves the window to the bottom of the document. CTRL-Rt arrow produces a caret. CTRL- - displays a word count, as does CTRL-Enter. SHIFT-CLEAR Toggles between beginning and end of line. SHIFT-UP AR Pages up one page. SHIFT-DN AR Pages one page down. SHIFT-ALT Takes you to the Main Menu. SHIFT-BRK will also do this. To issue CTRL sequences, hit CTRL, release CTRL, then hit the key. No need to h old the CTRL down. To use SHIFT sequences, hold SHIFT, then tap the other button. You must hold t he SHIFT key down. To use the various printer fonts, you must first run SETUP.BAS. Get your printe r manual ready. When it asks you for the fonts, type in what is in your manual f or that font. Note, all printer codes that are CHR$'s must be typed in with pare nthesis around them. For instance, on most Rad Shack printers, the escape code i s CHR$(27). You would enter this as (27). You must include four codes, and as it tells you, you fill in the rest with up arrow's. Now, to actually use the fonts, around the string you want in a different fon t, you put the beta characters ({), then go to the font menu (CNTRL-I) and selec t the type of font. Your text is now blinking, indicating a special font. When y ou print it out, it will all appear nicely. Blocks are marked the same way as fonts are, with the CNTRL-M sequence surround ing the block. To move or copy them, mark the block, then position the cursor wh ere you want the block to go, and select Move or Copy. To delete a block, mark i t, then select the Delete option. That's about it for now. A few more things: you must clear memory before loadi ng in another file, or else the two files are chained together. Your right margi n is how far over from the LEFT. For example, if you have an 80 column printer, and want a right border of 6, your right border would be 80-6, or 74. the same g oes for the bottom margin. 66 lines are normal, so a bottom margin of 3 would be set as 63. A kwik hint...to change only one option, load CUST2.BAS into WP3, ed it it, then save it back, and re-run the BOOT program. This is about all for now, with more to come as discovery is made. Spe cial thanks go to The *GREAT* Dark for some of the discoveries. Well, have phun all... -=-= Silicon Bandit =-=-
