Well, I finally did it. I went and got a real telescope. My uncle has something similar to this scope, although I'm not sure what model it is. So, for the curious, here's how the thing gets put together.
First off, you start out with the tripod. Picture a camera tripod on
steroids and you'll get the idea.
Next, you mount the equatorial wedge to the tripod.
Here's the optical assembly in its stowed position, ready for mounting
to the wedge.
Then, you carefully mount the optical assembly to the wedge and tighten
it on
Attach the accessories and you're ready to go!
Here's the business end of the optical tube. Wow, what a piece of glass!
